Lacking the small map and one plate (the one showing a Ovampo woman from the Chella mountains). - Daniël David Veth (1850-1884) was the son of the first author Pieter Jan Veth (1814-1895), a prominent Dutch geographer and traveler in the former Dutch East Indies who wrote a.o. a standard work on Java. His son died of exhaustion during his travels in Africa.
