In very good conditions. Some overall rubbing to edges and boards. Some darkening and rubbing to spines. First edition with best impression of the plates, but somewhat spotted as usual. Some mild foxing to plates, some minor handling marks to pages, else clean and tight copies. Illustrated with 41 fine steel-engr.plates, incl. portraits of the famous generals, republican leaders, etc., and of execution scenes, assassinations, etc., all beautifully engraved by GREATBACH.
