The pseudonymous author Elena Mikhailovna (Koltsova Masalskaia Elena Mikhailovna Gihka Kniaginia), (1828-1888) was a Romanian princess, niece of the hospodar of Wallachia, and author of several volumes on women's issues, 'Des femmes, par une femme and Les femmes en Orient' (dealing with the Balkans and Russia). And this one translated in French and German: La Suisse allemande et l'ascension du Moench. The first reputed ascent of the Mönch (published in the second volume p. 307-326). Récit d'un voyage en Suisse et particulièrement dans l'Oberland bernois, avec le récit de l'ascension du Mönch.
