This work originally appeared in 83 separate parts in pictorial yellow wrappers. In 1847 a second edition was also published with separate continuous pagination per part, and not, as in the first edition, pagination that runs from the first to the second part. - - Jean Ignace Isidore Gérard (1803 - 1847) was a prolific French illustrator, printmaker and caricaturist who published under the pseudonym of Grandville, and numerous variations (e. g. Jean-Jacques Grandville, Jean Ignace Isidore Grandville).
