After studying at the Du¨sseldorfer Akademie, Siegert quickly rose to become one of the most successful genre painters of the Düsseldorfer Malerschule. Following historical and biblical themes, he specialised in entertaining scenes of late Biedermeier family happiness, cute children in the studio or tavern scenes in the tradition of Dutch Baroque genre painting.
