Folio. - Text pages with foxing; edges foxed; plate with portrait of Carnegie sl. spotted / dam. along the bottom edge. Complete copy with al the 76 plates (the title-page mentions 74 plates), including portrait photo of Carnegie & tripod photo of the jury. The plates are mostly printed in phototype by Van Leer & Cie in Amsterdam, and some by J. Löwy from Vienna. The French text describes the assignment of the competition, the course of events that led to the Peace Palace, and a short curriculum vitae of all depicted architects. - The French architect Louis Marie Cordonnier (1854 - 1940) won the competition for the Peace Palace in The Hague. His neo-Flemish entry won the design competition against far more modern competitors like Hendrik Berlage and Otto Wagner.
