Relatively rare Dutch adaptation by the well-known Dutch physician Lambertus Bicker of work by Samuel Auguste André David Tissot (1728 - 1797), a Swiss physician. During his lifetime he enjoyed extraordinary fame and was the physician of many high-ranking European personalities, most notably the King of Poland and the Elector of Hanover. He has been said to be the physician of princes and the prince of physicians. This work contains a great deal of advice for the wealthy in society on a wide range of health-related topics. Tissot owed this fame to his numerous works, especially those on onanism, and his studies on epilepsy.
