Loose sheets in modern paper portfolio.* Interesting collection of drawings made by an amateur with an interest in botany. According to a handwritten caption on the portfolio the drawings were made by Adèle Reijst-Le Jeune (1852-1927) the wife of Nicolas Frederic Reyst who was a pharmacist. The drawings mainly concists depictions of plants, fruits and roots with some endemic species but mostly tropical onces. These drawings were executed by copying book and/or magazine illustrations, captions with Latin or vernacular names and the description of the plant-components were added in ink. One of the drawings mentions that it was copied from the Pharmaceutische Waarenkunde, 1831. The drawings are rather naive / and not very skillfully copied but the chosen species (mostly exotic plants / fruits) makes this collection very interesting. Depicted are (amongst others): Averrhoa Caramboli (Carambola or Starfruit), Alea Europea (Olive), Manilkara Zapota (Naseberry), Nutmegg, Cocholospermum Reliogusum (Silk Cotton Tree), Bertholletia Excelsa (Brazil Nut), Carica Papaya (Papaya fruit), Bixa Orellana (Orlean), Strelitzia Regina.
