From 1973-1983, the Royal Netherlandish Academy of Arts and Sciences in Amsterdam published in 17 volumes the series Iconclass System, the well-known iconographic classification system, now used by many art historians.In order to give this Iconclass System a more specific practical continuation, Mr. Roelof van Straten, one of the founders of the sytem, has taken the initiative to start a series called Iconclass Indexes. In this Iconclass Indexes there will be indexed standard works on subjects which are more or less complete in itself.
