Gilt tooled cloth. 8vo. - Some but minimal shelfwear along the edges of the spine; first endpaper missing; some fraying affecting the added notes. -- ADDED to this copy are: a signature in ink by Willem Sandberg on h.title-page, annotations in pencil by Sandberg througout, a small sketch in pencil depicting a male portrait on the final endpaper (attributed to Sandberg), a loose sheet of paper with notes by Sanderberg in pencil, a flyer of the movement in typoscript with annotations by Sandberg on recto, a handmade bookmark with small photograph of the group's leader and a caption in pencil by Sandberg.* Annotated copy by and from the library of Willem Sandberg (1897 - 1984): Dutch graphical designer, typographer and director of the Stedelijk Museum Amsterdam. Willem Sandberg and his wife Emy joined the Mazdaznan organisation during the early twenties. This spiritual group propagated fasting, breathing excersises and natural healing. The Mazdaznan-movement was popular amongst artist such as Johannes Itten and other Bauhaus-members. Sandberg became the leader of the Dutch division in the early twenties.
