This edition was established by Marcus Musurus from the fifteenth century manuscript, which is now in Florence. It is described by N.G. Wilson as one of the best of the editiones principles (From Byzantium to Italy, p.155). Pausanias (ca. 115, Lydia - 180, Rome) was a renowned writer and geographer from Greek Asia Minor who devoted ten or twenty years to travelling in mainland Greece during and after the reign of Hadrian, in the brief golden age of the Roman Empire (2nd century A.D.). He is famous for his Discription of Greece, a comprehensive travel guide that describes ancient Greece from firsthand observations. A crucial link between classical literature and modern archaeology and very valuable for the study of the topography, mythology and archeology. Kühnius adopted the text of this Aldine edition. - - THIS BOOK IS NOT AVAILABLE IN OUR SHOP IN THE OUDE HOOGSTRAAT. PLEASE MAKE AN APPOINTMENT IF YOU WANT TO SEE THE BOOK. - -
