Frederick Hartt (1914-1991) was an Italian Renaissance scholar, author and professor of art history. His other books include: Sandro Botticelli; Italian Renaissance Art; Michelangelo; Florentine Art Under Fire; The Sistine Chapel; Love in Baroque Art; The Renaissance in Italy and Spain; and History of Italian Renaissance Art. He was one of the famous Monuments Men, recovering art stolen by the Nazis, and recently the subject of a major motion picture. He was on the faculty of the art history departments at Washington University in St. Louis (1949-1960), the University of Pennsylvania (1960-1967), and the University of Virginia (1967-1976), where he chaired the department..
