Half bound in fine brown calf over marbled boards, spines in six compartments separated by raised bands, gilt lettering in two compartments, fine blind-stamped pattern in remainder, gilt borders on bands, blind-stamped borders on covers, all edges marbled, marbled endpapers. Profusely illustrated with engraved drawings, many full-page. These first eleven volumes of Punch begins with Volume I (1841) and continues to Volume XI (1846). Printed in London by Bradbury, Agnew, & Co, "for the Proprietors'" "Punch, or the London Charivari was a British weekly magazine of humour & satire established in 1841 by Henry Mayhew & engraver Ebenezer Landells. It became a British institution." . All of the bindings are in virtually perfect condition, smooth and tight, with just a couple of small spots. The edges of the volumes are shelf-worn. The marbled boards on a couple of volumes have some small spots or rubbing. The test block of each volume is in perfect condition, tight, square, and clean, and seemingly unread.
