Elizabeth Gordon (1866-1922) was a juvenile fantasy author whose works include Flower Children, Bird Children, and Mother Earth's Children, a delightful collection of poems about the "frolics of the fruits and vegetables." Illustrations by M.T. Ross engage children to identify a variety of plants and birds. M.T. Ross (1881-1937), who was affectionately nicknamed "Penny", was an illustrator and comic artist in the early twentieth century. He lived in Oak Park, Illinois and had his studio in downtown Chicago. He was one of the first co-workers of Walt Disney, as well as a close friend of R.F. Outcault, with whom he developed 'Buster Brown'. M.T. "Penny" Ross moved to Southern California in 1926 to work for RKO and other studios as a set designer. He illustrated children's books like 'The Flower Babies Book', 'The Flower Children', 'Butterfly Babies' (written by Elizabeth Gordon), 'Bird Children' and 'Animal Children'. Former owner's name and date (1937) on ffep, small closed tears on a couple of pages not affecting any text or illustrations, very minor occasional smudges, else fine. VERY GOOD. The Golden Hour Books Series. Color Drawings. Small 4to 9" - 11" tall. (96) pp. Very Good with no dust jacket .
