Publisher's full brown calf, spine in six compartments separated by raised bands, gilt lettering on burgundy label in one compartment, t.e.g. James FitzJames, 1st Duke of Berwick, 1st Duke of Fitz-James, 1st Duke of Liria and Jérica (1670 – 1734) was an Anglo-French military leader, illegitimate son of King James II of England by Arabella Churchill, sister of the 1st Duke of Marlborough. Berwick was a successful general in the pay of Louis XIV of France. The author, Guillaume Plantavit de la Pause, Abbé de Margon (1684-c1760), was born in Béziers on April 2, 1684.. Edges only mildly worn, front hinge starting but firm, bookplate removed from fep, bookseller's stamp on ffep, otherwise unmarked, tight, square, and clean. Extremely scarce Irish edition, published in the same year as the first edition, 1738. VERY GOOD. 12mo 7" - 7˝" tall. 432 pp. Very Good with No dust jacket as issued .
