Engraved frontispiece. Three volumes bound in one. [viii], 189, 198-468, 481-662, 665-733, 736-968, [62] pp. The continuous pagination is inconsistent, but complete. Translated by John Bulteel. François Eudes de Mézeray (1610-1683) was a French historian. Mézeray won the favor of Pierre Séguier and was given the title "Historiographer to the King of France". This book, his "Histoire de France depuis Faramond jusqu'au règne de Louis le juste" (3 vols, 1643-1651), is a reasonably accurate summary of ancient and medieval French and Latin chronicles. Former owner's signature in an elegant hand on first premininary page; another signature on initial title page, otherwise inmarked; expertly rebound; tight, square and clean. NEAR FINE.
