Peter O'Reilly came to Victoria from Ireland in 1859 and in 1863 married Caroline A. Trutch, the sister of Joseph Trutch who became BC's 1st Lieutenant Governor. In 1867, the family moved into a house at Point Ellice in Victoria. This home remained in O'Reilly hands until 1975 when, then a private museum, it was purchased by the provincial government." This book was a result of the donation of the clothing to the Royal British Columbia Museum (RBCM) and the study of the clothing of the O'Reilly's daughter Charlotte Kathleen (1867-1945)..
