Author: CHURCHILL, Winston Title: A History of the English-Speaking Peoples: The Birth of Britain. The New World. The Age of Revolution. The Great Democracies
Description: New York, Dodd, Mead and Company, 1956, 1956, 1957, 1958. First American Edition. Hardcover. Four volumes bound by the Kingsport Press in full dark blue morocco leather with gilt-lettered and decorated spines and gilt-lettered red morocco onlays on the front covers. The first three volumes are first printings, the last a later printing and bound slightly differently without the Kingsport Press gilt stamp at the bottom of the inside rear cover and with a slightly different decorative device on the front cover, the leather also of a different texture. Apparently the press had only a few copies of this set bound in this fashion, and we surmise that perhaps the last volume was bound slightly later though quite sympathetically to the first three. A history of the Empire from Roman Britain through the end of the 19th Century. Contents clean; bindings with insignificant wear, the spines of the middle two volumes sunned to a slightly different color from the other two volumes. Near Fine .
