Small quarto (4" x 6-3/4") in contemporary paneled calf, neatly rebacked; (x), xii, 20, 104, (2), 254 pages including the list of subscribers; title page printed in red and black. Volume I in two parts (all published); the second volume would not appear until 1755 under a different title. Prince was one of the first great collectors of American history and literature, EVANS 4068; HOWES P-615: “Our most scholarly colonial work”; SABIN 65585. Signatures of Elnathan Whitman and Mary B. Sherman on the front endpaper and of Whitman again on the title page, dated 1764. Modern bookplate of King Lawrence Parker on the front pastedown. Mild toning to text; small tear to top edge of spine at rear. Lovely, Fine example .
