Author: WHITE, E. B Title: Typed Letter Signed (Tls)
Description: New York, 20 February 1963. Letter. Letter to a Mr. Poland written in Florida on 7" x 10-1/4" THE NEW YORKER stationery. In part: "I am envious of anybody who is in Maine today, where chill blustery weather blends with the scenery. Down here on Fiddler Bayou it just seems out of place and uncomfortable. All the cocoanut palms bit the dust last December in the great freeze, and many other trees were hard hit. My wife is a game woman and tried to rectify the damage by setting out a few pansy plants among the yuccas. They burst into bloom. Yesterday a tornado missed us by some forty miles. It lifted a motor car off the approach to the so-called Sunshine Skyway and dropped it and its two occupants into Tampa Bay. We send our warm regards---they were preheated." SIGNED "EB White. Faint creases from mailing. Fine .
