Hjalmar Hjorth Boyesen was a Norwegian-American author and college professor. He is best remembered for his novel GUNNAR: A TALE OF NORSE LIFE, which is generally considered to have been the first novel by a Norwegian immigrant in America. Armorial bookplate of Henry Payne McIntosh on the front pastedown with an old auction clipping on the front endpaper. On the blank page opposite the page with the inscription is written in dark ink: "Bangs & Co. Sale, Jany 4/1900 $10xx." Bright, clean, and Fine .
