Illustrated with 19 steel engravings, 2 of which are hand-colored. Illustrations include fashion plates as well as a portrait of Longfellow and a view from West Point. First appearance in print of Poe's poem "The Conqueror Worm" and his article "Our Amateur Poets," as well as James Fenimore Cooper's "Autobiography of a Pocket-Handkerchief" and contributions by William Cullen Bryant, James Russell Lowell, and Henry Wadsworth Longfellow, including his poem "The Belfry of Bruges. Mostly light, sporadic foxing; moderate rubbing to covers. Very Good .
