Quarto (8-1/4" x 10-3/4") bound in full crimson morocco leather; gilt rules and gilt-lettered spine; gilt dentelles and marbled endpapers; all edges gilt; vi, 288 pages. Illustrated with a hand-colored title page vignette and 48 hand-colored aquatint plates drawn by Fielding, and Walton during a two years residence among the lakes. One of only 850 copies printed of what is considered the greatest illustrated book on the Lake District. Neat owner name in ink of A. M. Crossley dated 1825 at top of title page with engraved bookplate of William F. Ross on the front pastedown; plates lovely and bright with strong coloring. Light rubbing and wear to binding.
