Still Very Good Charles Wilbert "Bill" Snow (1884 - 1977) was an American poet, educator, and politician who served as the 75th Governor of Connecticut. Snow introduced one of his students at Columbia University, Carl Van Doren, to the writings of Herman Melville, who was then mostly unknown. Van Doren was largely responsible for the national rediscovery of Melville, and of course Olson, with his first book CALL ME ISHMAEL, explored his own theories about Melville.
