Title: Document Signed
Description: Lyonne, 29 November 1710. Document. Folio (19" x 11-1/2") written in a neat secretarial hand on vellum, a commission issued and SIGNED by the Sun King making the Marquis de Lyonne a colonel of the infantry. Housed in a cloth chemise and a custom full burgundy morocco leather slipcase, elaborately gilt-decorated on the covers and spine and lettered on the spine which has three raised bands. Document folded and a tad faded with some soiling, a small pinhole at one of the folds not affecting any letters and a long tear at the bottom right blank margin. A small old catalog description tipped to the left margin. Very Good condition, especially considering its age, in a close to Fine slipcase with a very short split at the outer top rear corner Louis XIV (5 September 1638 - 1 September 1715), known as Louis the Great (Louis le Grand) or the Sun King (Roi Soleil), was a monarch of the House of Bourbon who reigned as King of France from 1643 until his death in 1715. Starting on 14 May 1643 when Louis was 4 years old, his reign of 72 years and 110 days is the longest recorded of any monarch of a sovereign country in European history.
