In part: "Friday is certainly an unlucky day; for on Friday I called at your hotel and was so unfortunate as not to find you.. I saw more than once the sunny Torrigiani gardens, and the empty house. I saw also many friends of yours, who regretted your absence, and spoke of you as you would like to be spoken of; and finally I shook hands with you in Powers' Studio, which was a kind of welcome and farewell to Florence."
