Description: Edinburgh Scotland, Printed by John Reid 1685 Crowned thistle & rose above imprint of titlepage, the same pair of emblem above List of the Heads". . Duodecimo (153x85mm) original boards re-spined in brown cloth (tips bumped), 292pp (signatures A-N6 collated complete). Last few leaves with lower marginal damp tide mark but paper strong and crisp, no impact on text. Titlepage a bit wrinkled and marked to gutter margin and minor signs of use, but overall in VG condition. Caligraphic signature "Wm. Reid" on back of titlepage, maybe a relative of the printer John Reid (d. 1712). *This Index & Abridgement covers all Scottish Parliamentary Acts for years 1424-1685 (from the reign of James I), e.g. penalties for drunkeness, swearing, and treason, ending with the chaotic reign of James II/VII. It includes Acts regulating the playing of foot-ball and Golfe, and laws relating to closer union between England and Scotland (referenced by ESTC R22587, Aldis, H.G. Scotland 2527).
