Title: A CHILD'S FIRST LESSON-BOOK chiefly in Words of One Syllable illustrated with upwards of sixty pictures by Birket Foster and Harrison Weir.
Description: London, Cundall and Addey / David Bogue. [1851] hand coloured illustrations [although it says 60 illustrations this is an exaggeration as there are 52 with frontispiece missing. . 12mo Gilt red cloth blnd stamped [spine rubbed & worn to head & foot/gilt spine-title rubbed/corners bumped/lower cover with small ink mark] All Edges Gilt. Lacks frontispiece but titlepage present. Tipped in news cutting of Sir William Bovill + blank leaf + 3-96pp + 2 columns of news of the "New Chief Justice on the Common Pleas - Sir William Bovill} glued to recto of the rear endpaper. At the foot of this clipping is penciled "Dec.15 1866" The book is divided with Part I without a half title if called for but most of the plates signed by Weir. The Second Part is for words of 3 or 4 letters and is illustrated by Birket Foster with the half title of Part mostly "in words of 4 or 5 letters" and illustrations by Foster.
