Description: Bretagne, Galerie Colbert not after 1859 chromolithograph panorama of costumes [25] + 40 pen and ink drawings,mainly of cupids tipped in on the verso of the costume plates. . 12mo Red cloth spined boards with gilt title & designs to front cover + blind stamped framing to both covers. [spine a bit sunned/ edges rubbed and tips with small area of wear] The panorama shows coloured costumed men or women some with inidcation of their trade such as carrying fish in a basket, at their spining wheel etc. The ink drawings pasted onto the back of each costume plate are very skillfully depicted and most have a neat caption below including "Auld lang Syne" [2 cupids greeting each other] "Love finds means" [cupid sitting on his quiver in the sea and rowing with his bow] "No delay" [cupid trying to hit a tortoise with his bow] etc. Each of these drawings show one or two figures on each page and there are some pages with two separate cut illustrations mounted by 4 dabs of glue to the 4 corners. Inside cover has Mrs.Pitt Paris Sep.27th 1859 written in ink.
