This is the 1892 edition of a book first published privately in 1888, proceeeds from the book went to help a kindergarden founded by Wiggin. This is a story of generosity in gilded age America. * The book had sold over 1.5 million copies and in 1917 the story was adapted into a silent film by Lule Warrenton (1862-1932), the only female director in the world to have her own studio at the time and a pioneer of childrens films.
