Quarter bound, marbled boards, calf spine. red leather spine label, gilt lettering. Wear and scuffing to boards, 1 1/2 inch piece chipped from head of spine, contents age-toned and partially foxed, binding is tight and sound, inscription and pencilled poem on front free endpaper, 1/2 inch strip excised form top of front endpaper. This rare volume includes all 12 months of the 1802 year, which was it's very first year of the publication of The Christian Observer. Good.

Stiff pictorial sewn wraps, 4 leaves of chromolthographs plus 2 chromos on inside front and rear covers. A different nursery rhyme accompanies each illustration. Cover is chipped along edges, mailny along spine, one illustration has an irregular 5 inch tear along top with slight loss of illustration. One of the publications from E.P. Dutton's "Pinafore" toy Books series, an uncommon series. Good.

The type in this book is very small, and the compiler explains that "larger type would greatly increase the size and price" of the book! Information in the book includes agriculture health, temperance, U.S. Constitution, phrenology, religion, cookery and more. Fair/No Jacket.
