Leaf from a sketchbook with a fast but skilful illustration of three men and a lady in a track boat. One man reading a newspaper, the second man conversing with the lady and the third man smoking a pipe. Annotated in pen lower right: "illustratie by Hildebrands Veerschipper", indicating that this was meant as an illustration for Hildebrand's (ps. for Nicolaas Beets) short story 'De Veerschipper' (The skipper) in the well-known work Camera Obscura (first published in 1839).
