McLean, 1859. Oblong folio. pp. [2, 30, [2]. Original blind stamped pebble grained cloth, a little worn on the spine and with new end papers. Presentation copy inscribed "Lady Codrington(?) from the Author." An account of a cruise undertaken by Smith and his friends in the schooner "Mary." It includes views in Alicante, Naples, Corfu, Malta, etc. Rare, not on Library Hub> Worldcat lists a copy at Princeton only which appears to be incomplete, lacking the final numbered page.

Account of the Wreck of the S.S. "Bokhara," on Sand Island, in the China Sea. ON 10th October, 1892.
Hongkong: The "Hongkong Daily Press": Office, 1892. 8vo. pp. 32. Original wrappers, a little frayed. The S.S. Bokhara was wrecked in a typhoon with the loss of around 150 lives including 11 members of the Hong Kong cricket team. A similar account, published by the Hongkong Telegraph can be found at the British Library, this item is unrecorded.

A defective copy lacking a corner of the title page, which is loose, and with inscriptions to the title page. Henry Collins Brown [1862 - 1961] was the founder of the Museum of the City of New York and author of a number of books on the city as well as Valentine's Manual of the City of New York. This pocket guide is described as Number Three of a series of Carry at Home travels, none of which I have been able to trace.

Contemporary paper wrappers, large label printed in gilt. 12 fine views of Sandhurst and the surrounding countryside. Presentation copy inscribed "Charlotte C.E. Somerset, the Gift of Lt. Genl. Sir Geo. Scovell, Feb 15th. 1850." From the Raglan library at Cefntilla. Somerset was the family name of Lord Raglan, so Charlotte must be a relative. Scovell was the Governor of the College at Sandhurst, but had earlier distinguished himself during the Napoleonic Wars where he would have encountered the future Lord Raglan. Not in Abbey and no locations listed on Copac or Worldcat.

Travels to and from Constantinople, in the years 1827 and 1828> or a personal narrative of a journey from Vienna, through Hungary, Transylvania, Wallachia, Bulgaria, and Roumelia, to Constantinople> and from that city to the capital of Austria, by the Dardanelles.....Styria.
Henry Colburn, 1829. First edition. 2 volumes, 8vo., 2 hand coloured aquatint frontispieces, 14 aquatint plates (3 folding), 4 engraved maps and plans (2 folding), 11 wood-engraved plates. Contemporary half calf, extremities rubbed. The folding maps have small closed tears where carelessly opened, the panoramas with tears along the bottom of the folds. Some very occasional light spotting and a small light stain affecting the top corner of the plates of volume 2 [free of the printed area]. However generally a Very Good clean copy. British Admiral Charles Colville Frankland (1792-1876) travelled from Vienna across south east Europe in 1827 when he was still a lieutenant in the Navy. The journey was extensive and lasted fifteen months. Frankland produced this account shortly after his return. The work is illustrated with engravings based on the author's own drawings and includes a glossary of the Arabic language. Abbey Travel 26> Blackmer 628> Atabey 460.
