ISBN: 9780533081400 Warmly inscribed by Author to a South African diplomat. The author's last diplomatic posting was as the Swedish Consul General in Rio de Janeiro where the two diplomats would have met. Several relevant newspaper cuttings included. The English text remains unchanged from the original publication. It concerns the fate of Raoul Wallenberg who disappeared, seemingly along with nearly all the copies of his newly published book 'What Happened In Budapest'.

George Allen. 1896 1st edition. Blue cloth boards with embossed gilt medallion of Nelson to the front board. Top edge gilt else rough-cut. 349pp illustrated 8vo. 210mm x 165mm x 45mm 1.3kg. Four square corners, bookplate to front pastedown, preliminaries foxed. Soft to head & tail of dulled spine, pages toned, some foxing, however this is a sound copy having an excellent general appearance with bright blue boards, all plates and fold-outs are present, some pages unopened, overall near VG condition. Bookplate of J.P. Fitzpatrick to front pastedown. Sir Percy Fitzpatrick was the author of the quintessential South African children's book 'Jock Of The Bushveld' as well as 'The Transvaal From Within'. He was appointed as the secretary of the Johannesburg Reform Committee in 1895. Percy FitzPatrick, was also a politician, mining financier and a pioneer of the South African fruit industry. As a politician, he defended British Imperial interests before and during the Anglo-Boer War. Notably he was responsible for the creation of the two-minute silence observed on Armistice Day.
