ENGELS, FREDERICK (FRIEDRICH)
Historical Materialism (from the Author's Introduction to "Socialism, Utopian and Scientific")
New York, NY: New York Labor News Company, 1902. 1st Edition Thus; 1st Printing. Pamphlet. This is a small format pamphlet with thin cardstock covers and and a stapled spine. The front cover of the pamphlet has detatched. The front cover of the pamphlet has a faded ink stamp from the "Socialist Labor Headquarters" (presumably, in New York. I can 't make out the rest of the inkstamp) There's a previous owner's inked name on the top edge of the front pamphlet cover. There are spots of discoloration on both the front and rear covers of the pamphlet. The text pages are generally clean and bright. There is a inked previous owner's name on the reverse of the last page of the prefatory note, right before the first true page of the text. The rear spine joint has a couple of small chips and some wear. "For Marx and his lifetime collaborator, Friedrich Engels, the ultimate cause and moving power of historical events are to be found in the economic development of society and the social and political upheavals wrought by changes to the mode of production. Historical materialism provides a challenge to the view that historical processes have come to a close and that capitalism is the end of history. Although Marx never brought together a formal or comprehensive description of historical materialism in one published work, his key ideas are woven into a variety of works from the 1840s onward. Since Marx's time, the theory has been modified and expanded. It now has many Marxist and non-Marxist variants. " (from Wikipedia). Good .
