A single issue of this magazine for a juvenile audience, featuring 'The Young Philosopher,' by W.T. Adams, discussing trains, railroads and their design and use. Adams is perhaps better known by his pen name Oliver Optic. Also present is the piece 'About A Cat,' by Gail Hamilton (pen name of Mary Abigail Dodge) a writer known for her support of equal opportunities for women. With pieces on the planets, etc. GOOD condition. Covers torn along the lower hinges, about 3 inches in length, with a1 by 2 inch triangular piece missing from the lower rear cover. Covers also split about 4 inches down along the upper hinge. Minor scattered staining to the front cover, with moderate staining to the rear. Minor soiling and browning. Some curling along the extremities. Previous owner's signature in pencil at the upper front cover. Text solid, with minor scattered staining. Good .

Bookstore stamp on the inside front cover, with an ownership inscription in pencil to the first endpaper. Frontis coming loose. Text block clean and solid with minor toning. Good/No Jacket.

Slightly ex-library with a stamp on the inside front cover, blindstamp on the title page and JP written on the spine. Moderate toning, scuffing and fading to the covers, with moderate soiling, spotting and some staining. Several small pinholes and small scrapes to the covers. Corners very worn. Lengthy split along the upper rear hinge, with loss of cloth. Some toning to the paper in the interior. Fair .
