The book includes a chapter on Samarkand (now in Uzbekistan) which is a well known trading hub along the Silk Route. Other chapters include "Askabad, Capital of Trans-Caspia", "Merv, Queen of the Ancient World", "Khiva and the Kirghiz", "The Oasis of Bokhara" and many others.
