A room is pictured, a lit fireplace with a picture hung above it.Next to the fireplace a bookshelf filled with books. portrait of a man hanging on the wall. There's an empty chair facing the fire. The bookplate says "Ex Libris Henry C. Bernheim", This image has a calligraphic border frame. Edwin Davis French was an American bookplate engraver, who produced at least 330 engravings beginning in 1893. Very Good.

The author/illustrator team also created The Political Struwwelpeter and The Struwwelpeter Alphabet.Sir Francis Carruthers Gould was a well known editorial cartoonist of the time. The caricatures are bright , the lithography and coloring being excellent. The book was engraved and printed at the Racquet Court Press of Edmund Evans. Evans was one of the great wood engravers of the Victorian age. Size: 4 to. Good.
