A detailed and comprehensive study into the excavations from 1923 to 1927 at Wroxeter, a small village in Shropshire, England, that was the Roman city of Viroconium in the county of Salop. At its peak, Viroconium is estimated to have been the fourth-largest Roman settlement in Britain. The settlement probably lasted until the end of the seventh century or the beginning of the eighth with extensive remains still seen. Written by Donald Atkinson, a British archaeologist who led work at Venta Icenorum. In the original card binding. Externally, smart with light rubbing and bumping to the extremities.
