Two parts of the volume for 1826 bound together. Paper spine partially perished, needs rebinding, untrimmed, old stamp and numbers on front. The map is in fine condition. A source of interesting information on French colonies and maritime exploration. Articles vary in length from half a page to 40 pages: The introduction of indigo to Senegal, voyage round Cape Horn by the covette l'Ariege (with map), Voyage of l'Auguste et Jules to the Philippines via Singapore, observations on navigation at Rio de Janeiro, the River Plate, Buenos Aires and Montevideo, the American Navy, observation on several places in the Red Sea, anchoring places in New York, the forests of French Guyana, planned establishment of a whaling station in New Zealand, discovery of 2 islands in the Ellice Group by Dutch navigators, news from the voyage of the Astrolabe under Captain Dumont d'Urville despatched from Teneriffe, News from an Arctic expedition under Captain John Franklin, return of Kotzebue, return of Bougainville [junior] and Camper, Parry's fifth Arctic expedition.
