The first edition of this very scarce volume. With the publisher's original unclipped dust wrapper.The stories contained in this work follow the humorous exploits of Anansi, god of the Spider People who transform himself into anything he wishes. The author, Lucille Iremonger, adapted these stories for the enjoyment of English children after growing up with them in the West Indies. Collated, complete with a frontispiece and seven in-text illustrations. In the original cloth binding. With the original unclipped dust wrapper. Externally, very smart, with minor shelf wear and a few small marks to the boards. Dust wrapper is slightly edge worn, with a couple small chips and a small closed tear to the rear. Scattered spotting to the wrap. Internally, firmly bound.
