A very scarce souvenir brochure in the original pictorial paper wraps. Signed by Arthur Wellard to the photograph on the front of the paper wraps. A souvenir brochure celebrating a 1951 Testimonial for Arthur Wellard (1902-1980), a talented cricketer who played for Somerset and England. Wellard exemplified the happy-go-lucky spirit of Somerset cricket in the 1930s. He was a Wisden Cricketer of the Year in 1936. Illustrated with 18 photographs, Bill Andrews gives an account of Wellard's career. Also contains facsimile autographs of Wellard and his Somerset colleagues. A page of publisher's advertisements to the rear. In the original pictorial paper wraps. Externally fairly smart, with age toning to the perimeters of the wraps, and a small stain to the front of the wrap. Bumping to the extremities. Internally, firmly bound. Pages are bright and clean. This manor was built by Christoffel Brants and named after Peter the Great, who was a friend of Brants and is supposed to have stayed at this house during his visit(s) to the Netherlands. The manor was demolished in the 18th century.
