He was a Dutch botanist and the son of Reinier Cornelis Bakhuizen van den Brink (1881-1945), botanist at the Herbarium of 's Lands Plantentuin in Bogor. R.C. Bakhuizen van den Brink junior provided his name in ink on the flyleaf. On the half-title the annotation: R.C. Bakhuizen v/d Brink, fil. van zijn vader Buitenzorg, 25 Maart, 1931.
