Overall, a very good copy.The official public printing by Congress of the ratified Louisiana Purchase, preceded in print only by ephemeral leaflets at the time of ratification. The Eighth Congress opened by endorsing Thomas Jefferson's audacious acquisition of the Louisiana territory, and went on to create a stock for the purpose of carrying it into effect. The texts include the official "Act to enable the President of the United States to take possession of the territories ceded by France and for the temporary government thereof;" alongside the original treaty and conventions with France by which the lands were acquired (printed in English and French). Jefferson's proclamation announcing the ratification is also printed here. Very Good.
