An Account of the Roman Antiquities Preserved in the Museum at Chesters, Northumberland
London , Gilbert & Rivington, 1907. Cloth. A fascinating volume of the Roman antiquities found at the Roman Fort, Chesters, richly illustrated. A second edition copy. This volume gives an account of the excavations which were carried out by Mr John Clayton at the Stations on the Roman Wall which were situated on his property in Northumberland. The findings from the Roman Fort Chesters are housed at the museum located on the site. Chesters was a fort on Hadrian's Wall near the village of Walwick, Northumberland and was built in 123 AD, just after the wall's completion. Richly illustrated throughout with a folding sketch map of the Roman wall. In half calf binding. Externally, very smart with a tide mark to both boards and slight fading to the boards. Some bumping to the head and tail of the spine. Internally, generally firmly bound with bright and clean pages. Very Good . Ill.: Not Stated. Very Good .

The first volume is in two parts. The first examines the region in the Hellenistic period, when it was dominated by Celtic tribes who settled in the interior of Asia Minor in the first half of the third century B.C.
