A less prominent echo of the Know-Nothing movement of the 1850s, the A.P.A. focused its efforts on social support for members, candidates, or causes rather than entering politics directly as an official party. The book identifies Rome as a threat to American freedom and denounces its alleged political power. Also includes chapters by various contributors on controversial Catholic practices and doctrines, such as indulgences, Purgatory, and transubstantiation. Good .
