Following the great events which have been turning points in the English and Scottish history, with portraits of the people that lived them, showing as well the personal characteristics of the sovereigns. With descriptive historical sketches.A great set allowing its owner to possess a national historical gallery of great value and significance at a moderate cost.  Illustrated throughout with sixty nine plates by distinguished contemporary painters and from authentic state portraits, of which forty three are of historical designs, twenty are portraits, and six are relics. Collated, complete. In the original cloth binding. Externally very smart with only minor shelfwear and a slight bumping to the head and tail of the spine as well as the extremities.
