Boards a little warped, slightly worn on edges; slight foxing, mostly of prelims; few thumbmarks. Decorated brown cloth. Stories written between 1909 and 1913, mostly war stories or humour, some set in South Africa. "Full Back" is an imaginary war story with slightly advanced technology; "The Sense of Touch" is a horror story about advanced motion picture technology. During World War I Sir Ernest Dunlop Swinton (1868-1951), a Royal Engineer, advocated the use of caterpillar tractors for trench-crossing, developed the idea of tanks, and commanded the tank training force. Fairly Good/No Jacket.
