First edition. In the publisher's original wraps.This set includes three issues from the popular British magazine 'Picture Post', a pioneering example of photojournalism that sold 1,000,000 copies a week after only two months of its publication.Edited by Stefan Lorant. The magazine took a liberal, anti-fascist and populist stance, campaigning against the persecution of Jewish people in Nazi Germany.These issues span from November 5th, 1938 to December 30th 1939, almost three months since the mark of the beginning of World War II. Vol. 1, No. 6 (November 5th, 1938) - With articles on China's Commander-in Chief, Chang Kai-Shek and his wife, the opening night of the new Oxford Playhouse, and coverage of Palestine being reconquered by a British army from Arab guerillas. Vol. 2, No. 13 (April 1st, 1939) - With articles on President Roosevelt's mother, Sara Roosevelt, Great Britain's overseas trade, building the Oxford boat and the painters of Paris. Vol. 5, No. 13 (December 30th, 1939) - Recounting a fateful year, with coverage of Hitler's address to Reichstag on January 30, his conversation with the Czech President that "loosed the storm" and the alliance strengthened between the British and French.  In the publisher's original wraps. Externally, with wear and handling marks to the extremities. Internally, binding has failed to Vol I No 6 and Vol 2 No 3, however all pages are present and held neatly together.
