The first edition of this scarce work.A charming Victorian picture book for children, containing entertaining and moral poems accompanied by colourful plates.Including 'Be Kind to thy Father', 'The Sand Castle', 'The Butterfly Hunt', 'Be Kind to thy Mother', 'The May Queen', 'Playing at Horses', 'Be Kind to thy Sister', 'The History of Tom Thumb', 'The Children in the Wood', and 'Be Kind to thy Brother&apos. Illustrated with sixteen chromolithograph plates. Collated, complete. Undated, dated from Jisc from a copy held at the University of Cambridge Libraries. In the original publisher's cloth binding. Externally, generally smart. Light bumping and rubbing to the head and tail of the spine and to the extremities. A little discolouration to the spine and extremities of the front board. Minor marks to the cloth. Front hinge is starting but firm. Bookseller's label to the front paste down. Small chip to the front endpaper. Spots to the endpapers. Internally, firmly bound.
